Gillian Leigh Anderson is an American actress. Her credits include roles as FBI Agent Dana Scully in The X-Files, stellar social actress Lily Bart in Terence Davies's The House of Mirth, DSU Stella Gibson in the crime TV series The The BBC's Fall, the sex therapist Jean Milburn in Netflix Sex Education Comedy-Drama and British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher during the fourth season of the Netflix TV series The Crown. Among other awards, she won a Primetime Emmy, two Golden Globes and four Screen Actors Guild awards. She has resided in London since 2002, after many years living together between England and America. Born in Chicago, Anderson grew up in London and Grand Rapids, Michigan. She graduated from Theater School at DePaul University in Chicago, then moved to New York City to pursue her acting career.
